Berryz Kobo, also known as Berryz Kobo, was a Japanese all-girl idol group formed within the Hello! Project entertainment franchise. The group was created by producer Tsunku, who wrote and composed the majority of their music. Berryz Kobo was established in early 2004, with its eight original members selected from the larger pool of Hello! Project Kids, a group of young performers who had been in training since 2002. The members were Saki Shimizu, Momoko Tsugunaga, Chinami Tokunaga, Maasa Sudo, Miyabi Natsuyaki, Yurina Kumai, Risako Sugaya, and Maiha Ishimura. Ishimura left the group in late 2005 to focus on her studies, after which Berryz Kobo continued as a seven-member act.

The group made its major debut in March 2004 with the single Anata Nashi de wa Ikite Yukenai. Their debut studio album, 1st Cho Berryz, was released in July of the same year. Throughout their career, Berryz Kobo achieved considerable success on the Oricon charts, with many of their singles and albums placing in the top ten. Their highest-charting single was Otakebi Boy WAO! / Tomodachi wa Tomodachi Nanda!, which reached number three in 2010. The group is also notable for its age-related records; in 2007, with an average age of under 14, they became the youngest female group to perform a solo concert at Saitama Super Arena.

Berryz Kobo is particularly recognized in the world of anime for their extensive work on the long-running sports series Inazuma Eleven. They contributed multiple theme songs to the franchise. In 2009, their double A-side single Seishun Bus Guide / Rival featured the song Seishun Bus Guide, which was used as an ending theme for the Inazuma Eleven anime. Later that same year, they released the single Watashi no Mirai no Danna-sama / Ryusei Boy. The track Ryusei Boy served as the third ending theme for the series. The group continued their collaboration with the franchise into 2010. Their single Otakebi Boy WAO! was used as an opening theme, while Maji Bomber!! and Shining Power were both featured as ending themes. Their song Shining Power was released as a single in November 2010.

The musical identity of Berryz Kobo is rooted in the energetic and melodic J-pop style characteristic of Hello! Project productions. Their songs frequently featured upbeat tempos, prominent vocal harmonies, and a polished, accessible sound designed to appeal to a wide audience. While the group was a cohesive unit, certain members, particularly Miyabi Natsuyaki and Risako Sugaya, were often highlighted as lead vocalists on many of their single releases. Beyond their primary work as Berryz Kobo, several members also participated in other Hello! Project sub-units. Notably, Miyabi Natsuyaki and Momoko Tsugunaga were also members of the popular trio Buono!, which was formed to perform theme songs for the anime Shugo Chara!

The industry significance of Berryz Kobo lies in their role as a major act during the expansion of the Hello! Project franchise in the mid-2000s. They were part of a generation of groups that helped maintain the project's visibility following the peak popularity of Morning Musume. They also represented Hello! Project internationally, performing at events such as the Asia Song Festival in South Korea in 2008, where they won the Best New Asian Artist Award, and at anime conventions like Sakura-Con in the United States in 2011. After a decade of activity, Berryz Kobo announced in August 2014 that they would go on indefinite hiatus. Their final concert took place in March 2015, bringing their career as a group to a close.
