Hidenori Chiwata, also known by the alias Hidenori Chiwata, is a Japanese singer-songwriter, composer, and lyricist born on April 6, 1972, in Saga Prefecture, Japan. His career in music began in his youth; while in high school, he performed in a band that reached the Kyushu finals of an NHK-sponsored competition. After moving to Tokyo, he formed the duo CHASE with西山修一郎, which won the grand prize at the 2nd Music Quest World Competition sponsored by Yamaha in 1993. He released his first album under Toshiba EMI in 1994 and made his solo debut under Sony Music Entertainment in 1998.

Chiwata is most widely recognized for his contributions to anime music, particularly for the Digimon franchise. He wrote the lyrics and composed the music for the iconic Digimon Adventure opening theme Butter-Fly, performed by the late Wada Koji. This song became a significant hit and is considered a classic of the anime song genre. He continued this collaboration with Wada Koji, providing the composition for the Digimon Adventure 02 opening theme Target ~Akai Shougeki~ and both the lyrics and music for The Biggest Dreamer, the first opening theme for Digimon Tamers. His work on the series extended to insert songs and themes for subsequent films, including the Digimon Adventure tri. series and Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna. He also composed the song Innocent ~Mujaki na Mama de~, which was used as the first ending theme for Digimon Frontier.

Beyond Digimon, Chiwata is known for his work on the anime Konjiki no Gash Bell!! (Zatch Bell!). He is the composer, lyricist, and performer of Kasabuta (Scab), which served as the series first opening theme for episodes 1 through 50. He also composed music for the anime's original soundtrack and for the sneak preview (next episode) segments. Another notable credit includes providing the theme song for the original video animation Shadow Skill 3.

In addition to his performance and songwriting for other artists, Chiwata established his own independent record label, cocoro records, in 2001. He took a hiatus from music activities in 2006 but returned to performing in 2007. In 2015, he was diagnosed with low-tone sensorineural hearing loss, which temporarily halted his ability to perform. After recovering, he resumed his musical career. His professional journey has been closely linked with singer Wada Koji, who performed many of his compositions; following Wada's passing in 2016, Chiwata has spoken about the importance of continuing to perform the songs they created together. His work has received industry recognition, with Butter-Fly receiving a special award at the Heisei AniSong Grand Prix.
