Description
R-Orange was a Japanese music unit active from 1997 to 2000. The group consisted of vocalist Akiko Nakada and guitarist Takuma Kawana. They released their music under the Toshiba EMI label.

R-Orange made their debut on January 28, 1998, with the single Mysterious Night. This song served as the third ending theme for the anime series The File of Young Kindaichi, specifically used from episode 30 to episode 42. The single included the B-side track Feel my love along with instrumental versions of both songs.

The unit released two additional CD singles. The second single, I wanna dance, came out on April 29, 1998, and featured the B-side Soshite Itsu no Hi ka. The third single, Close to me ~Sekai no Hate made~, was released on March 10, 1999, with the B-side energy. I wanna dance was used as an ending theme for the Japanese television program Machami no Zenbu Itadaki!!

Beyond television, R-Orange contributed to anime film music. Their song Close to me ~Sekai no Hate made~ was used as the theme song for the 1999 Toei animated feature film Gundress. A cinema version of the track was included on the film’s original soundtrack album. The group’s debut song Mysterious Night was also compiled on The File of Young Kindaichi Theme Song Collection album, released on July 28, 1999.

After a long hiatus, R-Orange resumed activities in 2023. The group released previously unreleased material that had been reproduced and remastered. Their first digital single, Silver light of the moon, was released on February 15, 2023, followed by a second digital single titled with you on August 12, 2023. New music videos were also produced for this revival.
