Wazu, an ordinary young man, retreats into a forbidden mountain range after his childhood friend Aria is taken by the hero of the kingdom. Heartbroken and feeling worthless, he expects to live out his days in isolation. Unbeknownst to him, the mountain is a cursed zone where the climate shifts violently and monsters of mythic scale roam freely. Over two years of desperate survival—facing minotaurs, three-headed dogs, and black dragons—Wazu unknowingly hones his body to a level that dwarfs the world’s mightiest warriors. When he finally decides to descend and reconnect with people, he discovers that the outside world perceives him as an unfathomably powerful being, while he still sees himself as the same weak townsman.
As Wazu reenters civilization, a chain of misunderstandings follows. His casual feats of strength are mistaken for godlike prowess, and his actions draw the attention of monsters, nobles, and legendary figures alike. He soon encounters the dragon king Ragnir and his daughter Mear, embarking on a journey with her. Along the way, he rescues the elf warrior Sarona and the bewitching beauty Tata, and later liberates the twin princesses Naminissa and Narelina from a civil war. Each new ally adds to a growing group of companions who admire and follow him—though Wazu remains blissfully unaware of the romantic tension building around him.
The story expands across multiple narrative arcs. Wazu defeats the northern hero Haosui, who later joins his company. He reunites with his long-lost sister Kagane, invokes deification to overthrow a tyrannical king, and eventually returns to his homeland to confront the hero who took Aria—only to learn that the hero was a fake and that Aria had never truly betrayed him. The conspiracy behind the Church of Light unfolds, leading to the resurrection of a sealed Evil God. Wazu, alongside the Creator God Floyd and the Dark Goddess, battles Shiro and the Evil God, transforming into a God-Evil Man to save the continent. Afterward, with only days until his wedding to his harem, he is abruptly summoned to another world alongside his divine allies, where the Four Great Guardian Demons await.
The setting is a fantasy world of kingdoms, guilds, and monster-infested wilds, anchored by the infamous mountain that forged Wazu’s strength. The core conflict revolves around Wazu’s innocent perception of his own power versus the awe and fear he inspires in others. Notable recurring themes include the comedy of miscommunication, the trope of the underestimated underdog, and the aftermath of rejection that leads to personal growth and unexpected bonds.
